Obituary of Scolastica Morello

Scolastica "Lina" Morello, a long-time resident of the Ridgewood, Queens, New York area, died Sunday July 17, 2016 at the age of 90. Born on March 27, 1926 in Monreale, Palermo, Sicily to Salvatore Morello and Gaetana Morello (Sirchia), Scolastica immigrated to the United States alongside her family and settled in Queens, New York. She was employed as a professional seamstress for over 25 years until her retirement. She was a well-respected member of her community. Scolastica was a sister to 6 brothers, all of which shared a special bond with her. She had the ability to make you smile and laugh at a moment's notice, a smile that could light up a room. She was a selfless person devoted to her family and friends. She was always concerned for others well-being, more so than her own. A truly special and one of a kind person, Scolastica loved good food and socializing. She was an accomplished cook and enjoyed family outings and holiday gatherings. She is predeceased by her brothers Vincenzo, Domenico, Giovanni and Salvatore. She is survived by her brothers Anthony and Fortunato, with many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, all of whom brought great joy to her later years.
