Obituary of Elfriede Parthe-Sommer

Elfriede Parthe-Sommer, 74, of Whitestone, New York, passed away at home on July 8th, 2018 after an illness.  Born April 25th, 1944 in Kukendorf, Gottschee, she is predeceased by her parents Josef and Maria (Koenig) Widmer, and her late husband Franz Parthe.

Elfriede loved art, calligraphy, reading but most importantly being manager of Gottscheer Hall in Ridgewood, NY.  She was passionate about preserving the dying language and culture of the Gottscheer people.

Survivors are her husband Joseph Sommer, her brother Walter Widmer and wife Patricia of Salt Lake City, Utah, daughter Karin Meisl and husband Robert of Franklin Square, New York and daughter Sonya Parthe of Whitestone, New York. Also her 3 stepchildren Ingrid Samperi, Werner Sommer and Joseph Sommer, her grandson Robert Franz, her step grandchildren Skylar, Dylan, Stephanie, Joseph, Jennifer and Julia, and her nieces and nephews Peter, Irmgard, DJ, Erika and Gina.
