I had the pleasure of knowing William as a neighbor and fellow Board member at the building where we lived in Chicago. William was such an interesting person with a unique backstory; I will remember him fondly as one of the most interesting individuals I've ever met. May he rest in peace.

I had the pleasure of working with William through the AAD. In addition, to his incredible knowledge of health policy and dermatopathology, I will miss our conversation with bits of Spanish intertwined with discussions about food from Mexico (me) and Puerto Rico (him). My condolences to the family, which I know was incredibly important to William.

I had the honor of knowing & working for many years through the American Academy of Dermatology. He was an incredibly dedicated, brilliant advocate for patients, dermatology & dermatopathology. I will deeply miss him personally & professionally & know his positive impact will be remembered forever.

My warmest and deepest condolences to William’s family. I had the pleasure of working with William at AAD and cultivating a wonderful friendship with him. William made me feel welcomed from my first day and that continued with each encounter. I enjoyed our impromptu chats and check-ins because we would simply talk about anything and everything. He was a genuine and charismatic individual, and such a Gem to be around.
One of my fondest memories of William was our artisanal dining adventure at Eataly - Chicago. It was pure joy watching him showcase his love for wine and Italian food. He gifted me with goodies after—a market bag and a bottle of Fernet-Branca Bitters in which he said, “Cierra, make sure you always take a sip after you enjoy a good Italian meal, your stomach will appreciate it”.
William, I am at a complete loss. Your diverse lens on life, politics, and healthcare, along with your intelligence, sharp wit, dry humor, and fashionable style was always a blessing to engage with. The universe is a little dim right now. May your one-of-a-kind Spirit continue to shine upon us all. You will be deeply missed, and until we meet again, rest in perfect peace.

My deepest sympathies to William's family. While I did not work closely with William at the AAD, he would always say hi and be so friendly and conversational in the hallways, cafe, or wherever you would see him. He touched so many people in the workplace and will certainly be missed. We were all very blessed to have gotten to know William and to have been a part of his life for so many years.

This is hard to fathom. William, my friend, my confidant, my brother. I will miss you terribly. Thanksgiving will never be the same without you. I will miss our daily chats and phone calls. You taught me so much - always full of wisdom and knowledge about the healthcare industry, life in general and politics. My personal BBC reporter - you made me feel smarter after every conversation. You always had to be the best dressed in the room. Words cannot begin to describe the pain and loss caused by your departure. Sixteen years we spent together at work, during holidays and daily phone calls. My heartfelt condolences to your mom, dad, sisters, family And friends. You were one of a kind. May you find solace and peace until we meet again.

Thank you for being my closest friend and confidant. I will always remember with fondness our trips we took to Rome, Madrid and London. I will miss our talks on the phone and discussions on world events, lunches we had and your persian cooking. I cherish the way we could make one another laugh at silly things. You will always hold a special place in my heart and are one of a kind WPB.

William and I worked together for almost 19 years, becoming friends immediately after he started at the AAD. We ate lunch together more times than I can count, whether it was a quick stop at Portillo's (the man loved a Maxwell Street Polish hot dog) or a significantly more adventurous meal. Some of the best dinners of my life, in cities across the country, were shared with William, who always had a great idea for a place we should try and always knew the right wine to order. (In the first dream I had of him since his passing he was chiding me for not ordering something more exciting!) I also shared some of the funniest phone calls, wildest workplace meetings, and best one-on-one work chats with William. He was one of a kind and I know my life is poorer without him, but so much richer for having had him in it.

My deepest condolences to William's family and friends. I had the pleasure of calling William a dear friend the past 15 years. I would not be the person I am today were it not for his friendship and support. Words cannot adequately convey my appreciation for his time on earth and all the joy he brought to people's lives. For me, William will always be the most unforgettable character I have ever had the great fortunate of calling a friend. Though he is dearly missed, I know he lives on through the countless people whose lives he impacted.

I will deeply miss my friend. We met at the AAD many years ago and developed a friendship that carried on well beyond my time at the Academy. He made me laugh on countless occasions and we shared tales of our travels and deep appreciation of Spanish culture and gastronomy. More than anything, William was a good and decent human being, a true friend who valued those he held close. My most sincere condolences to his family and friends, I embrace you with my prayers. Dale Senor el descanso eterno y brille para el la luz perpetua. Descansa mi querido William en los brazos amorosos de Papa Dios.
Prayers of light,
Ana Maria Grady

Dear William was a special friend to me for 20 years. We worked together in Dermatology and solved many world problems together! Seriously, William was kind, thoughtful, considerate, and caring and I will miss him and his dry humor so much. William always checked in on me for holidays or during the storms of life.
William, I pray that you are at peace in a place as beautiful as you are.
Your dear friend,
Theresa
