Obituary of Elena Yanisovna Grislers
Our mother
Elena Yanisovna Grislers was born in Moscow on September 14 1949
In the family of Yanis Ansevich Grislers and Nadezhda Konstantinovna Grislers
Both parents worked as teachers.
Her main caretaker was her grandmother, Ekaterina whom she was very close to.
Elena grew up in the center of Moscow on Novoslobodskaya street.
She liked to study and was very studious. She read a lot, played volleyball-she was very tall, and she played piano. She got a piano as her birthday present when she was a kid and this piano stayed with our family for many, many years.
My sister and I played this instrument too.
She wanted to be a teacher, but her mom, was against it and Elena became an engineer.
She was hardworking and very responsible.
When she was 18 she met our father, David Astrakhan and they got married pretty soon. A few years later my sister and I came to this world.
Mom always took care of people-of our dad when he was sick, of her parents, when they needed her, of us and later of her grandchildren-Elizabeth, Maya and Alice.
She was the best grandmother anyone could ask for-caring, loving, honest, giving.
Elena, being a very good hearted person, always had many friends, as a kid, as a teenager, and as an adult.
The last 17 years of her life she lived in Forest Hills NY, next to us-her closest family.
Unfortunately, she developed an incurable disease; the doctors kept fighting for her life till the last moment…
Elena will be missed so much by everyone who knew her well and not so well.
She touched every person’s heart who came in contact with her
She will be forever in our hearts ❤️ ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
